Louisiana State University: Coates Hall

Built in 1924 and named for Charles E. Coates, head of the department of Chemistry, dean of the Audubon Sugar School, dean of the College of Pure and Applied Science (now Basic Sciences), chairman of the Graduate Division, and coach of the first football team. The department of Computer Science, Religious Studies, and Speech Communications as well as the School of Library and Information Sciences are housed here.
