The Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews, is a non-profit organization chartered in 1960 to promote and assist the advancement of classical and contemporary dance by maintaining a performing company, presenting a high quality season, providing dance education, and community outreach.
Each year, BRBT presents a dance series that includes two performances by our local company supplemented by top quality guest artists, and at least one performance by a professional touring dance company. Our unique production of The Nutcracker, A Tale from the Bayou, sets the familiar holiday classic in 19th century Louisiana and has drawn sold-out audiences since it was introduced in 1991. This annual production features guest artists from Complexions Ballet New York. BRBT's Spring Concert showcases a mixed bill of classical and modern dance, providing a diverse evening of new choreography and favorite classics, while celebrating local talent and culture. BRBT also invites world-renowned guest artists and alumni to perform during this concert.
