Wine/Drinks: average-good
Price: A little on the high end
Service: Slow, never shown a menu or a final bill
Customer Service: Unbelievably awful
Some friends and I booked a room at Little Village this past weekend before an event we had downtown. The staff of Little Village was great as always and the food was delicious. However, since we were in a large group we were placed downstairs in a wine room in The Vault. This meant that our food and alcohol were on two separate checks. Once we paid for our food we waited and waited to receive our alcohol bills, but they never came. Finally, we all walked over to the bar where the manager very casually told us the credit card machines were broken and would be down for an undetermined amount of time.
We started pulling cash together and trying to come up with a solution, explaining to her that we had to leave and couldn't wait for the machine to come back up if she couldn't tell us when it would be fixed. She told us we didn't have to be rude, and when we explained that we simply needed to go and were trying to solve the problem, the little bartender girl next to her turned and said to her "yeah, they ARE being rude."
I even offered to leave my credit card there and come pick it back up the next day or whenever the machine was finally fixed so everyone else could take theirs and we could leave and the manager refused to let us do this, saying we could all be there until next week for all she cared. She was TERRIBLE. When we mentioned talked to the manager she smirked and said "i AM the manager" and when we mentioned talking to the owner she snidely smiled and said "oh, he's never here. he doesn't care."
The service was AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I have never been anywhere where they treat paying customers with such disrespect and are completely unapologetic about a problem with THEIR machine. In the end, we pooled our cash, paid the amount SHE claimed it was WITH GRATUITY (though we were never shown a receipt), and got the hell out of there.
I should also mention that there didn't seem to be any people in the bar except for a few dazed looking girls getting their hair and makeup done, and the bathroom has no lock on the door and a see-through curtain in front of th estall with a mirror in front of it. We had to go in pairs to keep people from busting in on us in the middle of our toilette.
My friends and I will never go back.
Unfortunately, this means I will also never bring large parties to Little Village because I don't ever want to be seated in the downstairs room and have to deal with those rude, horrible Vault employees ever again.
I can't adequately express how terrible the service was.
